Accidently Murdered

A few months ago, a young 19 year old women was texting while driving in her car. When she approached an intersection, she struck and killed a 53 year old chinese delivery man, who was also a father of three.

As you all are aware, it is against to law to drive while using a mobile device, which is probably a direct result of the reason for police offices to enforce this law heavily. This young lady is a second year college student that does not have and priors, never encounted any trouble with the law or social gatherings. If convicted, she can face up to five years in jail.

What should happen to this young lady and why?

Should the law sentence her with the maxium plenty or should she be given a slap on the risk. If the law does nothing, what example is it showing on young teens. If the law acts harshly, it may send a young girl to a place that will ruin her life.

What do you think should happen?

  1. She should go to jail for killed the man. But not for 5yrs at least 2 (being that she doesnt have any priors.) Some laws are a little bit to much.

  3. I truly believe she should get the max sentence, and the reason why is because not only did she did something she wasnt suppose to be doing while driving, she also took a life away. Just because shes a good student, and doesnt have a record mean she should get a slap in the wrist. So what now, we should feel sorry and slap everyone in the wrist thats going to school and has a clean record, eventhough, they just killed someone while texting and driving. Im so glad theres a law now that protects innocent citizen just crossing the street. Texting while driving, it shows how much you respect the driving laws, is like putting on make-up, getting dress, eating, playing a video game, etc... That poor mans family shouldnt have to pay for her wrong doing. So yes she should do the five years in jail, and i think thats a slap in the wrist on its own. FIVE YEARS FOR TAKING A INNOCENT PERSONS LIFE, COME ON NOW.

  7. Well i think a law is a responsability that you need to follow. It also not gonna be fair for that guys children and family only for her mistake .I Think in my on opinion she need a punishment for her to lear and teach other cause now daies that a common story in the united stated and alot of places in the world. I also understand that is wasent her fault but is a crime she murder an inocent man !!!!!!

  8. maybe sound bad ,but I think she should go jail because she committed a crime and law have to be equal for everybody eventhough of her age she is older enough to understand the rules...

  9. funny this reminds me of the Hammarubi code :]

An eye for an eye? too many the max sentence is way to harsh for she didnt mean to do it intentionally.... ok.. well why wasn't she paying attention to the law. WHERE IT CLEARLY StATES! "Don't use your phone while driving"
It doesn't matter what happened happened, i've herd of people who get thrown into jail for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, when they weren't involved. why should this be any differnt? one thing would be if no one got hurt, sadly someone was killed. They should say she can't ever use a phone in her life. HA do u know how much hell that would be for her?

(sadly were are toooooooo dependent on technology.. kinda sad...)

  10. I think she should be treated like anyone else who would have done it. I also think its unfair if she gets a slap on the rist and walks away, because if it where her that got hit and killed her family would want the same thing. At the end of the day, everything has repercussions, and we all know, "If u cant do the time, dont do the crime."
